Nairobi Senator and UDA gubernatorial candidate Johnson Sakaja has failed to authenticate his university degree after the Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) gave him up to mid-day today to answer questions and five petitions from Nairobi voters on whether he holds a bachelor’s degree, which is a requirement for any individual seeking to become Governor.
Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Dispute Resolution Committee chair Mr. Titus Tiego on Monday granted a plea by Senator Sakaja’s lawyer, Mr. Adrian Kamotho, to be given more time to respond to the four petitions.

“I urge this tribunal to give me more time to file a formal application seeking to have one of three members of the IEBC tribunal recuse himself and also to answer the allegations filed against Mr. Sakaja,” Kamotho pleaded.
The four petitions will be consolidated after an order from Mr. Tiego who also directed the Returning Officer and the Petitioners to file their responses by end of Tuesday.
The tribunal hearing resumes June 15th starting from 2 pm.
