Opposition Won’t Get It Right on IEBC Reconstitution, Again

It is one thing to have a bipartisan IEBC select committee. It is another for this committee to produce an apolitical IEBC.

The Kiraitu-Orengo bipartisan committee produced the Chebukati-led IEBC. That IEBC declared Uhuru as President in a dubious election that Maraga court nullified.

The irony is that whereas the opposition had a say in the composition of the then IEBC, that IEBC, once constituted, shafted the opposition.

The opposition would then be saved by a judge singly appointed by President Uhuru, outside machinations by the opposition.

Now there’s posturing on another select committee. When finally done, it is my hope that we do not pick the same monkeys in the opposition forest who deliver very incompetent people as commissioners.

With hindsight of history, nothing convinces me that the opposition is going to get IEBC reconstitution right.

I have a theory why the opposition bungles this process but I won’t share it. I don’t want to hurt the feelings of people. Bomas will do it in 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣7️⃣.
