President William Ruto is set to sign the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Amendment Bill 2024 into law at the KICC in Nairobi.
This bill, the first to be passed by Parliament based on the recommendations of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report, aims to enhance the country’s electoral management system.
The signing event is expected to have political party leaders present and is seen as a significant step towards reforming the operations of the IEBC, which has been a point of contention and a key demand from various groups, including Gen Z protesters.
The bill is expected to pave the way for the reconstitution of IEBC commissioners and address the concerns of voters who have gone for months without representation after positions fell vacant.
