Sabina Chege says next week’s Kiambaa by-election will prove the Mt Kenya region is firmly in Jubilee Party and behind President Uhuru Kenyatta. Speaking while campaigning for Kariri Njama, the ruling party’s candidate in the critical by-election, the Muranga Woman Rep said William Ruto’s UDA is facing a different Jubilee Party, not one it thrashed in the Juja by-election last month.
”I ask you to stand with Jubilee and we are fully behind our president. Kiambaa people will prove next week, that Mt Kenya loves President Uhuru Kenyatta,” Ms Sabina Chege said.
Another ally of President Uhuru, Kanini Keaa told residents to emulate the Garissa by-election after the death of Senator Yusuf Haji where the residents of Garissa elected the Jubilee candidate unopposed.
”We have a very good example that was set by the Garissa people. Upon the death of our Jubilee senator, the people went for another Jubilee candidate who won with a landslide. As much as Jubilee is a national party, its leader is from Kiambu and we are in Kiambu. You cannot afford to embarrass the president and your own party,” said he Kieni lawmaker.
Also present in the campaign caravan were MPs Peter Mwathi (Limuru), Kanini Kega (Kieni), Wambugu Ngunjiri (Nyeri Town), Sabina Chege (Murang’a woman rep), Jeremiah Kioni (Ndaragua), Jude Jomo (Kiambu Town), Wanjiku Kibe (Gatundu North), Waihenya Ndirangu (Roysambu), Rachael Shebesh (CAS Gender) and a host of MCAs from the region.
