Governor Amason Kingi’s Pamoja Africa Alliance (PAA) candidates in Kilifi are distancing themselves from William Ruto and UDA presidential campaigns in the county, exposing the lid on mistrust and sharp divisions that have rocked the relationship between the two Kenya Kwanza partners.
Reports from the county show UDA and PAA no longer hold joint meetings and have embarked on parallel campaigns following a public spat between Governor Amason Kingi and UDA gubernatorial candidate Aisha Jumwa in Kilifi two weeks ago.
Ms. Jumwa, also the Malindi MP has accused Governor Kingi of slowing down William Ruto’s campaigns in the county and is undermining UDA plus its candidates, giving her competitor, PAA gubernatorial candidate George Kithi as an example.
