Supporters of UDA and PAA parties in the Kenya Kwanza alliance on Thursday clashed at a joint rally in Kilifi county attended by the UDA flagbearer William Ruto and PAA leader Governor Amason Kingi exposing deep underlying divisions in the UDA leader’s camp.

At the meeting, Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa seeking the county’s gubernatorial seat requested DP Ruto to give PAA candidate for the same seat George Kithi a national appointment so that she remains as the sole Kenya Kwanza candidate seeking to succeed Amason Kingi in August.

”Your excellency (Ruto), I am kindly asking you to set aside an appointive seat for George Kithi at the national government. Let him serve the country at that level, and allow me battle it out with our opponents in the race to succeed Governor Kingi,” the Malindi MP said.

Friction between UDA and PAA started immediately after Governor Kingi dumped Azimio for Kenya Kwanza and declined to withdraw his candidates in favor of UDA.
