Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has disagreed with a decision of Jubilee Party leadership to rebrand the ruling party after DP William Ruto and his allies decided to dump the outfit.
On Friday, Jubilee Deputy Secretary-General Joshua Kutuny said they intend to change the party’s current colours- red, yellow, black, and white, which were derived from Uhuru’s The National Alliance (TNA) and Ruto’s URP. Red was too conspicuous with TNA while yellow and black dominated URP.
”We are considering rebranding the party which will include changing the colours and slogan to have an independent identity now that the United Republican Party (URP) wing has moved out,” Kutuny, who is also the Cherangany MP said last week.
However, according to MP Wambugu, the ruling party is about unity and it was what the clasped hand signified, it would beat the logic of changing the logo. For party colors, the vocal legislator and supporter of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s agenda in Mt Kenya said they work for the ruling outfit and cannot be changed every time some party members leave.
”I hear our Jubilee Party SG has suggested we should change our party logo and colors, because some of our members have left.I do not agree. Our party is about unity – which is what the two clasped hands signify. The colors work for us.And really – a party logo and colors cannot be changed every time some members leave. (Or join). ”
”Our parties must now be bigger than any individuals within. Unless we are saying that we will be changing our party logos and colors every time someone leaves (or joins) the party. Let’s not fall into the trap of making some people look bigger than they are,” he said.
