Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiangi has revealed before Parliament DP William Ruto is the most protected deputy in Kenya’s history, with 257 security personnel including 74 presidential escort officers.
The CS, together with his PS Karanja Kibicho arrived at parliament buildings this morning to appear before the Committee on Administration and National Security over the replacement of General Service Unit officers attached to DP Ruto with Administration Police officers.

”Apart from the 74 presidential escort security officers assigned to DP, he has many other security personnel provided to him in total numbering to 257. We have provided sufficient security to the holder of the office of the Deputy President,” the CS said.
”DP Ruto has 74 security officers protecting him 24/7 hrs. Vice president with their numbers of security personnel, DP Ruto has the highest 74, compared to other holders of the office of the Deputy President,” he added.

Last week General Service Unit (GSU) officers guarding Deputy President William Ruto’s official residence in Karen were withdrawn and replaced by Administration Police officers.
