Mombasa county ODM gubernatorial aspirant Abdulswamad Sharrif Nassir says Mike Sonko’s entry into the Mombasa race is not about service delivery in the county, but part of a wider plot to fight Raila Odinga in Mombasa by a member of the Azimio Coalition.
Speaking on Tuesday morning, the Mvita MP fingered Wiper boss Kalonzo Musyoka whom he says should have faced him head-on instead of rocking the Azimio coalition from inside by sending the impeached Nairobi governor to run in Mombasa.
”Ameweza kusema kuwa yeye (Sonko) ametumwa hapa na Kalonzo. Sasa mimi ningemuomba Kalonzo badala ya kujaribu kuleta tetesi ndani ya Azimio, mimi ningemrai aje mwenyewe Kalonzo akasimame,” Abdulswamad said during an interview with Baraka FM.

”Nimesikia mara kadha wa kadha wakisema Kalonzo amemtuma…this is a bigger issue. Hii yote ni vita ya kupiga Raila Amolo Odinga. Na katika hali ya kupiga Raila Amollo Odinga ili asiwezekupata kura zinazohitajika,” he added, noting that similar plans have been hatched in other Raila strongholds.
Abdulswamad also said the county belonged to the people of Mombasa and that the next governor will be judged by what he has done for the people when they were in positions of power and their track record in the county.

”Mwenye Mombasa ni watu wa Mombasa and at the same time na kila mtu anapimwa na kwa yale ambayo ameyafanya, wakati anayastahili kuyafanya na yale ambayo hakuyafanya wakati alistahili kuyafanya…judge me kwa yale niliyoyaweza kuyafanya.”
