The political sending off, of the ruling Jubilee, is underway, and according to Uasin Gishu Women Rep Gladys Shollei the party is dead and is a shell of its former self. The Woman MP has described the ruling party as intolerant to dissenting views, and cannot accept criticisms without imposing harsh punishment to members.
”It only exists in name as a party. It is a party that has shown intolerance to any dissenting views. Anyone who holds a dissenting view from a few people in the center of Jubilee will be disciplined illegally,” Ms Shollei said.
Shollei, a close ally of DP William Ruto and a subscriber of the Hustler Nation ideology said the reality is, Jubilee existed at the time when Aden Duale was the party’s majority leader in the National Assembly.
”That is when we had the consultations and had party positions. That hasn’t happened since then. Jubilee has realised, that unless you shut up, and follow like donkeys what the leadership is saying you will be kicked out.”
Speaking on Thursday night, Shollei said the President was only targeting nominated leaders whom she described as ”soft guys in the party”, instead of the over 145 party MPs.
”They are going after soft targets. If they think they are a strong party, I dare them to send all the 175 of us home for a by-election. I dare you, the party will not back with a single MP.”
