Trouble Brewing in UDA over Calls for Senator Nyamu’s Removal

1 min read

UDA MPs are divided on calls to have Senator Karen Nyamu recalled for violating the constitutional provisions on leadership and integrity.

Whereas a section of legislators from the Rift Valley is supporting UDA members seeking to have the nominated out of office, their counterparts from Mt Kenya have sworn to fight off any attempts to punish the senator who they say is one of their own, and are standing with her.

Yesterday, the UDA National Youth Congress wrote a letter to Veronica Maina, the party’s Secretary General recommending Ms. Nyamu’s removal.

Over the weekend, Senator Nyamu blamed alcohol over an embarrassing incident in Dubai where she engaged in a commotion with Mugithi music star Samidoh’s wife Edday Nderitu Thursday night during a concert.

The viral incident elicited mixed reactions from Kenyans, with some describing Nyamu’s behavior as disgraceful for a person holding public office.
