Rift Valley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya Announces Interest in Trans Nzoia Governor’s Seat

Rift Valley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya has declared interest in the 2022 politics by declaring that he will be going for the Trans Nzoia Governatorial seat.

Appearing for an interview with a local media station, Natembeya finally confirmed the speculations that he would be in the race for the Governor’s seat although he did not disclose the party he will use.

“I think the seat is salivating over me. When you work away from your home region and people at home see the good work you are doing they tend to request you to return home and work for them. So when people at home call upon you, it’s a request which you will accept,” Natembeya said.

Natembeya joins the list of civil servants who are eyeing political seats ahead of the 2022 general elections. According to the constitution, a civil servant who eyes political seats has until February next year to tender their resignation.

So far, there two politicians have expressed their interest in the Trans Nzoia Governatorial seat. Apart from Natembeya, Kimilili MP Chris Wamalwa also eyes the County’s top seat.

The 2022 politics has been labeled as a tough contest with youths declaring interests for various seats. The country’s Top Seat, according to experts will be a battle of two horses Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto.
