1 min read

A wave of chaos hit Rumuruti town this morning in Laikipia county where the natives are clashing with herders who drove their cattle in the farms around the Murura area earlier today.

Outraged residents have taken the law into their hands and chased away the herders from Rumuruti livestock market accused of invading the lands illegally to graze their cattle.

The violence has led to Rumuriti town dwellers barricading the Nyahururu-Rumuruti-Maralal road and setting ablaze several motorcycles belonging to the herders, mostly of the Maasai extraction.

Currently, there is a heavy presence of GSU and KDF officers in the county, following an invasion of the Ol Moran area and its surrounding areas in Laikipia West by armed bandits.
