Questions Linger as Nakuru Doctor James Gakara who Killed Children with Insulin Dies in Hospital

On Sunday, the story of James Muriithi Gakara, a Nakuru doctor who allegedly killed his two children with insulin before attempting suicide shocked the nation.

In a report aired by a local mainstream media, it alluded that Dr Gakara, an obstetrician at Optimum Current Hospital in Nakuru, injected his two children, Dylan Gakara, and Karuana Gakara minors aged three and fives years with human insulin before attempting to take his life.

He has reportedly had an argument with his wife before the incident. The cause of the argument, however, is yet to be established.

At the time the police arrived at the doctor’s house, he was unconscious. Together with the children, they were rushed to the hospital in an effort to rescue them.

The children were however pronounced dead at the arrival in hospital while the medic was taken to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Earlier today, Dr Gakara was pronounced dead leaving the case in limbo.

The story has elicited mixed reactions from people with a section blaming him for taking away the lives of the two innocent children while others are claiming there is more than meets the eye.

According to a section of social media users, the timeline surrounding the deaths of the two minors does not add up. For instance, a good number are questioning where the mother was at the time the father was allegedly committing the atrocities.

Ideally, others claim that his death is suspicious and could have been done with the aid of a medic or family who wanted him to complete what he had started.

Ultimately, yesterday, Dr Gakara’s sister claimed foul play regarding the situation. Speaking to a local publication, she stated that her brother might have been framed bringing in the factor that someone else might have committed the crimes.

“I know my brother very well. He would do anything to protect his children. He is also not the kind of person to commit such an act. He loves his family and we have never heard of any differences between my brother and his wife. They have always been happy,” the deceased’s sister, Mary Gakara said.

Authorities have taken over the matter with the pledge of serving justice. However, more needs to be done and the situation analyzed to ensure a thorough investigation is done and concluded and those responsible brought to book.
