Nyeri Senator Wahome Wamatinga says Nairobi Governor’s resolve to relocate matatus from the Nairobi CBD will have far-reaching political consequences for the Nairobi county chief, considering he has a degree ‘from Gikomba’.
Speaking on Monday 2nd at a funeral service in Mathira constituency, Wamatinga warned Sakaja they will face him head-on and demanded respect for DP Rigathi Gachgua who the senator says helped Sakaja become Nairobi governor.
”Rigathi helped you become governor. Tutaonana na wewe mwanaume kwa mwanaume (We shall meet man to man). Kikuyus will not be threatened. Rigathi should be respected,” Senator Wamatinga charged.
”We want to tell Governor Johnson Sakaja that DP Rigathi Gachagua is not your agemate. We know your papers are from black market and you bought them. If you continue poking us we will impeach you,” he added.
On December 23rd, 2022, this publication reported UDA leaders allied to DP Rigathi Gachagua are pushing the party’s MCAs in Nairobi to draft and table an impeachment motion against the Nairobi Governor in February if he fails to toe the UDA line.
According to sources from the ruling party, Governor Sakaja’s defiance and not taking instructions from State House puts him on a warpath with the party’s leadership. UDA party members have accused him of neglecting the government side and working with the Opposition in Nairobi.
