The Luo Council of Elders officials, led by Ker Opiyo Otondi and a section of MPs from Luo Nyanza are in Kieni, Nyeri county, to meet their Kikuyu Council counterparts on what is said to be a forum over 2022, and how the two camps will be working towards Raila’s presidency next year.

The meeting, which was supposed to happen in August was canceled due to the government’s public order on Covid-19 guidelines.

Confirming the cancellation of the event last month, Kikuyu Council of Elders national chairman Wachira Wakiago, said the committee that was mandated to organize the forum decided to postpone the meeting to a later date to be communicated.

Kiago disclosed the meeting was to host more than 150 elders from the Nyanza region, however, many have not been vaccinated. According to sources, the elders of the two communities will discuss how to cement the rocky Kikuyu-Luo relationship as well as the country’s unity and peace ahead of 2022.
