NARC-Kenya leader Martha Karua says she has her eyes set on the Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat next year and aims to face off with Governor Anne Waiguru who will be defending her seat as well as Woman Rep Purity Ngirici who has declared her interest in the same seat.

Speaking on Thursday morning, Karua also disclosed none of the leading presidential candidates has approached her for the running mate’s position and that currently, she is doing her best to serve her party and Kenyans.

”I’ve not been approached by anyone and I have not had any sitting with anyone over that. I’m doing the best for myself, my party, and for Kenya, what will be for tomorrow, I do not know,” she says.

Currently, United Democratic Alliance (UDA) is said to be the most popular vehicle in the county. Governor Waiguru and Woman Rep Ngirici’s rivalry has however split the outfit in the middle, with two factions facing each other. The two leaders are expected to square it off in the party primaries.

Last month,  the former cabinet minister said no one from Mr. Odinga’s camp or any other political formation has approached her with an intention of making her their running mate and her main focus is the Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat.

“I have not declared to be someone’s running mate nor have I been approached by anybody, I had already indicated that I will go for Kirinyaga Governor and I am already on the ground doing it,” Karua, also the spokesperson of the Mt Kenya Unity Forum said at that time, while cautioning Kenyans against leaders dismissing small parties in Mt Kenya.
