Bukusu elders are asking Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetangula to shelve their presidential ambitions and back ODM leader Raila Odinga for the presidency in 2022. On Tuesday, Luhya Elders Forum chairman Patrick Wangamati met the former prime minister and declared their support. Wangamati is a former Ford Kenya Nominated MP and father of Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati.
”The Bukusu Council of Elders met our party leader today and they have endorsed him. They have made an assurance that they will go down there to popularise his candidature,” ODM MP Opiyo Wandayi who was at the meeting said.

Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford-Kenya counterpart Moses Wetangula have broken links with the ODM leader and are currently a part of the One Kenya Alliance (OKA).
However, following Tuesday’s meeting, the Bukusu elders revealed they will be engaging Mudavadi and Wetangula in the coming days in attempts to have the entire Western Kenya block fully rally behind Odinga in 2022.
Currently, Raila Odinga enjoys the massive backing of the region’s leaders, including four governors.
Mudavadi and Wetangula turned down Odinga’s invitation to the Azimio la Umoja convention in Nairobi.
