Kieni MP Kanini Kega is calling on residents of Mt Kenya to give ODM leader Raila Odinga a listening ear, saying the veteran politician may be having a message from his father, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga to residents of the region.

Speaking to Citizen TV’s Jeff Koinange, the Uhuru die-hard disclosed in the past, the entire GEMA nation refused to give Mr. Odinga a listening ear whenever he sought their votes because one of their own ( Kibaki in 2007, Uhuru in 2013 and 2017) has been competing with the former prime minister.

”In the past, we have never given Raila Odinga a listening ear because we have had one of our own vying for the presidency,” the Kieni MP said.

Raila’s father, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga was the country’s first vice-president under the founding president Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, father to the current president, Uhuru.

The outspoken legislator explained that when Kenya was about to gain its independence, the late Jaramogi Odinga demanded the release of Mzee Jomo Kenyatta who was in incarceration at the time, something which explains why the Oginga family have played a huge role in the country’s politics.

The legislator also went down history, noting that in 2002, central Kenya referred to the ODM chief as “Njamba” the title for a hero, after he teamed up with Mwai Kibaki, famously declaring ‘Kibaki tosha’.

”So when I look back at the actions, his actions and the actions of his father, I said, wait a minute… let’s listen to him, maybe he still has a message from his father on why they did what they did at that time when they were also looking for the presidency,” the MP said.
