Kirinyaga Woman Rep Purity Ngirichi could be on her way out of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), following revelations her arch-rival and competitor Anne Waiguru is DP William Ruto’s preferred choice to spearhead UDA campaigns in the county.
Just a day after UDA women led by Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika, MPs Aisha Jumwa, and Rahab Mukami were spotted with Governor Waiguru, Purity Ngirici accompanied Dr. Karanja Kibicho at a press conference in Kirinyaga where the Interior PS revealed there were attempts by a Nyeri UDA politician to ferry goons to the county for Mashujaa Day celebrations, to heckle President Uhuru Kenyatta.
”I have received intelligence reports that there are people who are planning to ruin Kirinyaga from Nyeri, Murang’a, and Embu and we are saying we will not allow this. As a government we will not take this lightly,” the PS said in Ndiya accompanied by Kirinyaga Woman Rep Purity Ngirici.
Kibicho also lashed out at leaders propagating politics of deceit in the region (in an apparent reference to the UDA brigade), telling them Mt Kenya will not vote blindly in 2022.
”The region will not vote blindly but will assess all candidates and weigh their determination to help the region. We have our irreducible minimums and we are stopping at nothing in terms of knowing how our lives will transform when you assume power,” he added.
“We are in the right frame of mind and we know what is best for us.”
On her part, the Woman Rep said Kirinyaga residents’ interests come first and she will not be a part of any camps attempting to sow division and hate between Kenyans.
”Our Unity of Purpose as Kirinyaga People to be real must stand the severest strain without breaking remembering that we are each other’s business, magnitude and bond. We will not be separated in interest or divided in purpose,” Wangui Ngirici said.
Governor Anne Waiguru, who has hinted her intention to defend her seat in 2022 using UDA has been meeting top allies of the DP. Woman Rep Ngirici has been banking on her loyalty to the Ruto faction, to clinch the 2022 UDA gubernatorial ticket in her county.
