Joho’s Kin Takes Over as New Mombasa County ODM Chairperson

Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho’s stepbrother, Mohammed Hamid Khamis has taken over as the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party county chairperson.

Hamid replaces Mohammed Hatimy who was a nominated MCA by the ODM party. He passed on last year from Covid-19 complications.

The move has been welcomed by party members who revealed that it will help intensify campaigns within the region to solidify the 2022 votes.

With Odinga’s next Azimio tour set to take place in Mombasa, leaders have been mobilized to come together in a bid to create a strong pact.

Yesterday, Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi met Busia Women Rep Florence Mutua, a key ally of ODM boss Raila Odinga.

Reports revealed that Kingi, who had dumped ODM is currently championing his new Pamoja Africa Alliance (PAA) for talks with senior allies of Mr. Odinga on how the two parties will work hand in hand next year to ensure the region’s vote are locked in one basket.

Speaking last weekend in Taveta, ODM deputy leader Hassan Joho disclosed they were working on a formula, together with the region’s leaders to have them at the negotiating table.

‘We are looking for like-minded partners to help solve pertinent issues affecting the region like historical land injustices meted out against the communities by successive governments,” Joho said during the burial of Governor Granton Samboja’s cousin.
