Reconciling Uhuru and Ruto will not succeed, Ngunjiri Wambugu

Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu says calls by the clergy and Deputy President’s revelation he is willing to have a sit down with President Uhuru Kenyatta may not yield any fruits. On Friday morning, Wambugu, who founded the Kieleweke wing of Jubilee says the church has been at the forefront, offering platforms in Mt Kenya to perpetuate hate against Uhuru Kenyatta.

”As much as some of the religious leaders seeking to reconcile the two now aren’t personally involved in the reason we are here, the Church generally has been the playfield where this hatred has been brewed by providing the platforms and forums where Ruto has mobilized his allies to insult and undermine Uhuru, his Boss. They didn’t speak out when it happened. Or challenged Ruto to stop it or correct him,” the MP wrote.

He continued: ”To now seek to reconcile them without first taking responsibility for having been part of the reason there is a conflict, is not honest,” while disclosing the DP is not sincere in his sudden change of heart.

”Ruto is not sincere. He has not been sincere while working with Uhuru and he’s certainly not sincere when he now says that he will reconcile ‘without conditions’. He deliberately went after his Boss to force him to concede and support him for 2022 unconditionally. He undermined him in his political strongholds, sabotaged his policies and government agenda, and incited (and continues to incite) the nation against him.”

He explains, ”Meanwhile this the same person on record saying that there’s nothing he’s done to adversely affect Uhuru ‘his Boss’. How would anyone reconcile who is innocent of sin?”

The MP proceeds, ”Ruto has attacked Uhuru ‘personally’. Uhuru did not chose to be born a ‘dynasty’ as Ruto calls him. Attacking ‘dynasties’ is not just attacking Uhuru, but his family as well; including his children and grandchildren. And telling Uhuru that you can go after his family or others purely because they were not born like you, were he in power. It’s a very dangerous threat that’s very hard to forgive.”

Ngunjiri Wambugu, a first-time Jubilee legislator is among Mt Kenya MPs who have resisted attempts by the DP to overrun Mt Kenya, and have stayed loyal to the president. The legislator also accuses the DP of undermining the president’s decisions publicly.

”He has been very happy where Uhuru has failed. He has often publicly ridiculed his decisions on policies. Etc. He has also wanted to dictate who Uhuru can and cannot work with or associate with politically; including suggesting that Uhuru has lost his mind working with Raila – publicly. He has nothing but contempt for Uhuru’s decision to work with Raila, despite the realities that led to this difficult decision. How do you reconcile Uhuru with someone like that?” he asks.
