Sirisia MP John Waluke has thrown his weight behind ODM MP Tim Wanyonyi in his to be the next governor of Bungoma in 2022. Waluke, a member of DP William Ruto’s UDA Party also announced he is stepping down from the race in favor of the Westlands MP.

” I want to announce that I have stepped down in favor of Tim Wanyonyi, MP for Westlands. He is a development conscious person, I know him. He can develop our county,” Waluke told the press at his Bungoma home.

The legislator says his decision comes after consulting far and wide with his fellow leaders, politicians and the county’s church leaders.

”Let us support Tim Wanyonyi. Let us rally behind him. I know him very well. Given time and opportunity he will change this constituency. After winning my seat in 2017, I have been campaigning to be the next governor,” he says, adding that the governor’s seat in Bungoma should only be held for five years and that the current governor should not think of running in 2022.
