Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza’s husband, Murega Baichu, and her sister, Miriam Guantai, have been questioned by detectives over the murder of popular Meru blogger Daniel Muthiani, popularly known as ‘Snipper’.

Baichu and Guantai were questioned on Monday afternoon following summons by detectives at the DCI headquarters in Meru.

Five suspects, including Mwangaza’s brother Murangiri Kenneth Guantai, are in custody over the murder but they have not been charged formally.

Lenny Kisaka, the Eastern Region DCI coordinator, said investigations are progressing well.

A ruling on a request by police to hold the suspects further is expected from a Kiambu court on January 17.

Muthiani went missing on December 2, 2023, before his body was discovered in a thicket along the banks of Mutonga River on December 16, 2023.
