There is disquiet among Mt Kenya MPs in William Ruto’s Hustler Nation after they were sidelined by the Deputy President in his latest appointment of members of his 2022 strategy team.

The legislators, who usually accompany the Tanga Tanga leader to political rallies in the region and other parts of the country, now claim they are being used as tools of political might and photo ops. But when it comes to sitting in the decision-making room, they are locked out due to mistrust.

”They accuse some MPs from Rift Valley of planting a seed of suspicion in the team. The trips to Karen have dropped for a reason. Most Kikuyu Mps who were supporting him are sidelined,” a source confided to this publication.

Soy MP Caleb Kositany and his Langata counterpart Nixon Korir are fingered by some Mt Kenya MPs as being barriers, and blocking access to the DP.

Even though Covid-19 restrictions have partly contributed to a slow down of political activities at DP Ruto’s residence, there are those who argue, the huge delegations to Karen were not adding any political value. And they were made up of those who went to seek hand outs, as opposed to genuinely supporting the DP.

The mistrust among Ruto allies has also boiled down to the counties, with Nakuru leading the fray. Senator Susan Kihika and Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri are engaged in a fierce battle over the party’s secretariat. A fight Bahati MP’s men accuse the DP of taking sides and supporting Senator Kihika behind the shadows.
