Two armed robbers have been shot dead while trying to break into Jamarat hardware located in Nairobi’s Eastleigh area.

According to detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the incident happened yesterday night with the two being part of a 6 member gang that has been terrorizing residents.

The men are said to have arrived at the hardware aboard a pick-up truck and with the police officers tipped on the same, a scuffle ensued.

Guns shots ran in the air and two of the robbers were shot as they tried to zero in on the police officers at the scene. 4 others escaped with gunshot wounds.

“Police got wind of the robbery and in a bid to clear the city off criminal gangs, responded swiftly and gunned down two of the thugs. The wounds will serve as a stark reminder, of their failed heist at the hands of the Pangani-based crime busters,” Kinoti said.

The IG further called on parents and guardians to be wary of the activities of their children while calling on the general public to report any persons exhibiting suspicious activities.

“For any suspicious characters and activities contact police hotlines 112,911 or 999,#FichuaKwaDCI 0800722203 #EngageTheIG,” Mutyambai said.
