On Tuesday, EACC detectives in collaboration with Malindi International Airport Police intercepted and arrested Mariam Abdalla Bunu, the Ag Chief Officer for Finance in Tana River County Government, who was traveling to Nairobi with unexplained and undeclared Ksh2.7M in cash.

According to the anti-graft agency, the amount, which the Chief Officer was unable to explain at the Airport and did not declare as required, was corruptly obtained from the Tana River County Government.

Details have now emerged Ms. Mariam Abdalla was slated to be interviewed for the CAS position next Monday. Was the Ksh 2.7M in cash meant to be used as a bribe to rogue PSC members for the CAS job?
