MSSM Confirms Salary Payments for Kenyan Police in Haiti to Be Processed This Week

1 min read

In response to concerns regarding delayed salaries for Kenyan police officers deployed in Haiti, the Mission Security Support to Haiti (MSSM) has announced that the disbursement process has been finalized, with payments expected to be reflected in individual accounts within the week.

An official statement from MSSM confirmed, “The process for the disbursement of salaries to the MSSM officers’ accounts has been finalized and it is expected that the same will soon be reflected in their individual bank accounts in the course of this week.” The agency addressed the administrative hurdles that caused the delays and reassured officers of timely future payments.

“Going forward, elaborate mechanisms have been put in place where payments will be promptly done at the end of the month,” the statement added, alleviating concerns about the welfare of the officers.

MSSM also highlighted the supportive infrastructure that has helped maintain morale among the officers. “The MSSM officers have been enjoying and continue to make use of the available communication and interactive systems which have enabled them to communicate with their loved ones back at home,” the agency noted.

This announcement brings relief to the officers serving under the Human Rights Due Diligence Policy, supported by a Trust Fund from donor countries. Despite deployment challenges, MSSM and the Haitian National Police (HNP) have reported several achievements in their joint efforts to stabilize the region.
