Raila Odinga International Stadium at Jamhuri Grounds, Nairobi, is expected to be ready by November, as the country accelerates preparations to co-host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with Uganda and Tanzania.
The 60,000-seater stadium is already in its final construction phase.
Government officials have previously put completion at about 91 percent, with remaining works including electrical installations, ICT and broadcast systems, spectator facilities and other finishing works.
The November deadline is significant because Kenya has set that month as the target for having its AFCON venues ready for the continental tournament, which begins in June 2027.
The stadium, formerly known as Talanta Stadium, is expected to be one of Kenya’s flagship venues for AFCON 2027 and is part of the wider Talanta Sports City development.
President William Ruto has described the 60,000-capacity facility as a centrepiece of Kenya’s investment in modern sports infrastructure.
AFCON 2027 is less than a year away, and the November deadline will be closely watched.
