Former Embakasi West MP George Theuri is preparing to contest in 2027 on an ODM ticket, not Rigathi Gachagua’s DCP Party.
The former MP was part of the former Deputy President’s political establishment, serving as his personal assistant until Gachagua’s impeachment, and had been regarded as one of the men with a direct line into the former DP’s court.
In mid-2024, Theuri, alongside other close Gachagua allies like Ngunjiri Wambugu and Munene wa Mumbi, was questioned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) regarding alleged links to the 2024 Gen Z protests
Now he is choosing Gachagua’s rival in the city, ODM, over DCP.
Theuri, a former Umoja One MCA who represented the ward from 2002 to 2013 before becoming Embakasi West MP, is understood to have fallen out with Gachagua, with the rupture eventually making ODM more attractive than following his former political boss into DCP.
