Gatundu South Moses Kuria’s Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) will be part of the Azimio la Umoja Coalition and has started identifying candidates across the Mt Kenya region to field in the various elective positions from MCA to Governor’s posts to face off with UDA.
Already, notable Azimio la Umoja proponents including Muraga Woman Rep Sabina Chege have expressed their intention to run on the CCK ticket, while also drumming up support for Raila Odinga’s presidency.
On December 13, 2022, Chege declared that she would campaign for Raila Odinga even if it meant losing her seat.
“Initially we were told that Raila is not even a human. We were all very much afraid of him. But now we have had access to him, he is a very polite person. He has come out as a very good family man, a person who is very considerate about other people and a down-to-earth person,” she said.
Kirinyaga Woman Rep Purity Ngirici who fell out with DP Ruto and UDA has expressed her willingness to work with Raila is said to be positioning herself to challenge Governor Anne Waiguru on a CCK ticket.
Speaking to supporters in Mwea sub-county last week on Thursday, December 30, Ngirici explained her move to dump UDA was after being summoned to the outfit’s headquarters in Nairobi where she was asked to quit the gubernatorial race for the incumbent governor Anne Waiguru.
”I was summoned to Nairobi and told to go and run as an MP in Mwea constituency and give her the seat, but I said no,” she said.
On Friday, Chama Cha Kazi leader Moses Kuria heaped rare praise on Raila Odinga in a birthday message to the former prime minister as he turned 77 years.
”Hate him or love him, irrespective of how the last chapter in his political bookends, this man’s place in the history of this nation is carved in stone. No other living Kenyan has gone through what he has undergone for the sake of our current freedoms. On behalf of the real hustlers of this nation, happy 77th my friend His Earthquakeness Baba, Jakom,” the lawmaker posted.
