That the Siaya Senator is cut from a different political cloak, from the current breed of leaders in both the Senate and National Assembly is not in doubt.

He has been present in the country’s political terrain from the jump, most of the time on the side of reformers and anti-regime activists calling out vices in governments.

With the most prominent stint being the Nyayo era. Years that left him physically brutalized, with one of his fractured fingers as a badge of honor.

Last Monday, at the height of their criticism on the BBI’s provision of 70 additional constituencies, Senator Orengo and Raila Odinga held a crisis meeting, to save the BBI from falling apart.

During the meeting, Raila told Orengo to personally call the president for further clarification on his stand on the additional constituencies, and also make a retraction of his intention to push for the removal of the 70 additional seats.

Separately, Kakamega Governor has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to to return Raila Odinga the favor after in 2022, for helping him lead until the end of his term.

“Raila has helped President Kenyatta to lead until the end. That is why we are asking him to also return the favour,” said Oparanya.

Oparanya, accompanied by Senator Orengo and Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo was speaking at St Benedict’s Catholic Church in Butere.
