Governor Ngilu: Chungwa iko Imara

Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu sent tongues wagging, following her tweet after meeting the ODM Party leadership on Monday. Together with ODM Minority in the Senate James Orengo and ODM Deputy Party leader Wycliffe Oparanya, Mama Ngilu was hosted by the party leader Raila Odinga in Karen.

In her tweet, the NARC Party leader wrote ‘Chungwa Iko Imara’, loosely translated to mean the orange is steady. This follows days of speculations, over a perceived fallout between the party leader and his generals pushing the BBI in the senate, led by James Orengo.

”In our meeting with Baba @RailaOdinga, I strongly encouraged that unity of purpose should prevail in ODM especially amongst leaders who have shown great purpose in moving this country forward,” she wrote, adding, ”The work of dealing with the current pandemic, youth unemployment, and the stressed economic times need all of us to come together regardless of party affiliations.”

In the 2017 elections, Mama Ngilu went against the Wiper Party tide to clinch her Kitui Gubernatorial seat using NARC’Ss ticket.

She is currently touted as one of the prominent politicians who will be backing Raila’s 2022 bid when the campaign whistle is blown. Today’s meeting follows a series of other similar conventions, attended by other national leaders.
