Governor Francis Kimemia’s offices were raided on Thursday morning by detectives from EACC, a day after the government suffered a humiliating loss in the Rurii ward by-election. The Thursday morning raid saw the sleuths cart away documents related to a 2019 55 million fraud case EACC is investigating in the Nyandarua county government.

”They took some documents from the governor’s secretary and the finance office to help us crack the case that emanated from the tender issued in 2019. Unless they fail to cooperate, that is when we will take action,” EACC’s Central region manager told the press.

The Nyandarua governor has been leading the Jubilee team in the Rurii ward campaigns, which saw President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee and William Ruto UDA go toe to toe.

The seat which was captured by Francis Muraya of UDA fell vacant in January following the death of area County Representative John Mburu, popularly referred to as Wamaria after a long battle with cancer. Mr Muraya garnered 4,303 votes beating his closest competitor Mr Thinji of Jubilee who garnered 3,143 votes.
