Wetangula under fire as MP reveals UDA link

Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula is under siege by a section of Ford-Kenya MPs after his protege, Majimbo Kalasinga disclosed Ford-Kenya was warming up to join William Ruto’s UDA. Speaking over the weekend in Bungoma county when he accompanied the deputy president, the Kabuchai MP disclosed the lion party was ready to join UDA as a partner next year.

”You are my friend. During the recent by-election, you helped me though you had a UDA candidate. I will not forsake you. When you see Majimbo Kalasinga and Evans Kakai here, just know Kabuchai is closed. We will support you,” the new MP told Ruto in Chwele market at a roadside stop.

The MPs statement puts the party into more confusion, with the ongoing wrangles in its leadership a year after the Registrar of Political Parties recalled a gazette notice that had published Wafula Wamunyinyi as the new Ford Kenya party leader.

Last evening, the party’s organising secretary Chris Mandu Mandu dismissed Mr. Kalasinga’s remarks, saying Ford-Kenya had not resolved to support Ruto next year.

“It is regretful because as a party, we have not sat down and decided to support the Deputy President. Kalasinga is my friend but I am disappointed in him. We have our presidential candidate who Wetang’ula. And we have many leaders we support among them Musalia Mudavadi but as a party, we have never discussed the Deputy President,” he said.

Adding, ”As a party, we do not share his sentiments. Those are his views. Ford Kenya is strong in Western Kenya and it remains so.”
