Retired president Uhuru Kenyatta has now been compelled to surrender some of his armed security to guard his mother and the former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta.

According to officials with knowledge of the situation, Uhuru instructed the police officers to accompany the private security guards stationed at Mama Ngina’s private residence in Muthaiga, Nairobi.

This comes after the government withdrew General Service Unit and Administration Police officers attached to the former first lady’s properties in Nairobi and Gatundu.

Last Friday, Uhuru Kenyatta said officers who had been watching over his mother for more than 50 years were let go without warning.
