Azimio leader Raila Odinga is asking the government not to interfere with Wednesday’s public rally at the Kamukunji grounds saying attendees of the meeting will not engage in any acts of thuggery and that there will be no property destroyed.

Speaking on Monday at a press conference in Nairobi where he was flanked by Martha Karua, Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni, and David Murathe, Mr. Odinga also warned against any provocations from the police during the gathering which he says will be peaceful.

”The meeting in Kamukunji is a peaceful public consultative meeting. It is not a demonstration. We are not going to engage in any act of thuggery or hooliganism. No property is going to be destroyed. We urge the government not to bring thugs there,” Mr. Odinga said.

On her part, Martha Karua, also Raila’s deputy said the country was slipping back to the dark era and has become a mafia state after William Ruto took over the presidency.

”President Ruto is slowly imposing a mafia state on Kenya. It has been said jokingly in the past, whereas other countries have a mafia, in Kenya, the mafia have the country,” Karua said.
