Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya says he can only back Musalia Mudavadi’s 2022 bid if he joins their team, led by ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Speaking in Kakamega town yesterday, the deputy ODM leader also disclosed the installation as COTU boss Francis Atwoli to represent the Western region in negotiations for 2022 was not in any way meant to undermine Mudavadi’s role as a leader from the region.

”We have given Atwoli a chance to coordinate all of us so that we can come together and have a common stand on who we shall support for the presidency. We want our community’s interests to be taken care of so that we are not left in the cold again after the elections,” Governor Oparanya said.
”I have no problem with Mudavadi working with Raila as they have done in the past, but if he (Mudavadi) cannot agree to that arrangement, then I will not support his presidential quest,” the second-term ODM governor added.
According to Dr. Oparanya, it will not be easy for Mudavadi to consolidate Western Kenya votes as the region is fully rallying behind Hon. Raila’s 2022 candidature.
