Raila Odinga’s ardent supporter and Movement for Defense of Democracy (MDD) member Nuru Okanga has defended the Azimio leader from attacks of those claiming he (Raila) had abandoned him.
Speaking on Thursday, March 23, Mr. Okanga dismissed the claims that he was detained at a Kayole hospital after failing to offset his medical bill and distanced himself from the individuals he said are soliciting cash online using his name.
”Hiyo ni propaganda ya watu wanatafuta pesa kwa jina langu…Monday mimi ntakua kwa maandamano. Thursday pia ntakuja maandamano…Sisi tuko ya Raila. Watu wengu wametembe kwa mitandao kusema Raila hajanisaidia,” Okanga, who was accompanied by Mumias East MP Peter Salasya said in Nairobi.
On his part, MP Salasya said the Azimio brigade, including its leaders, can never abandon their supporters and he has been financially assisting Mr. Okanga and even built him a house. The MP also went ahead to warn the Majority Leader in the National Assembly Kimani Ichungwa from peddling lies about Nuru Okanga, to paint Raila Odinga and Azimio in a bad light.
”Kimani Ichungwa after he was told not to talk about Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta, he is now peddling lies about Nuru OKanga. I had to personally go see him to understand why UDA MPs are so obsessed with him. Petty government discussing a private Kenyan instead of cost of living,” the Mumias East MP said.
