1 min read

An impeachment motion against Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza has been tabled in the Meru County Assembly. A notice by Abogeta West MCA Dennis Kiogora, who is also the minority whip has given the seven days’ notice for the impeachment debate.

”The discreditable acts have created a toxic environment in which the Governor cannot be legitimately expected or relied to work harmoniously with the staff and elected leaders at the national and county levels of government,” said the Abogeta West ward MCA in his notice which also accused Governor Kawira of nepotism, illegal appointments, unlawful dismissals, usurpation of constitutional and statutory functions, as well as forceful entry into the assembly.

Last week on Wednesday, Ms. Mwangaza led a crowd in Meru, in saying sorry 70 times representing every member of the county assembly whom she had fallen out with, 69 of whom signed the first impeachment motion against her.

The Meru High Court stopped the assembly from debating the motion.
