Matungu MP dumps Mudavadi, joins Raila and Azimio Movement

Matungu MP Peter Nabulindo, who was elected to office last year March on an ANC party ticket is the latest legislator to dump the outfit and its leadership (Musalia Mudavadi) and has joined the Raila led Azio la Umoja Movement.

Speaking on Monday evening from his constituency, the MP said his people of Matungu have advised him to join the Azimio side in which they have confidence is forming the next government after President Uhuru leaves office.

” Watu wa Matungu wanataka niwa ndani ya serikali ndio niweze kuleta maendeleo…Huwezileta ukavuta maendeleo ukiwa wewe uko kwa upinzani. Watu wa Matungu wameona pahali serikali inaelekea na wananiambia nielekee upande wa Azimio,” the legislator said on Monday.

Peter Nabulindo won the seat on an Amani National Congress ticket after high octane clash with ODM’s David Were whom he trounced with a margin of about 4,000 votes. Nabulindo garnered 14,257 votes and Were had 10,565 votes. Alex Lanya of UDA came in third with 5,513 votes.

Nabulindo’s victory was seen as a win for ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi who had been pitted against ODM party leader Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto in the region.

Apart from Nabulindo, ANC Deputy Party leader, and Lugari MP Ayub Savula, Teso South’s Oku Kaunya and nominated MP Godfrey Osotsi have also dumped ANC to join Odinga.
