The Kikuyu Council of Elders has thrown its weight behind Narc-Kenya Party leader Martha Karua as the most suitable candidate to deputise Raila Odinga in the Azimio-One Kenya Alliance.
On Tuesday at a press conference in Ruaraka, the council’s headquarters, KCE National Chairperson Wachira Wa Kiago said they had presented to the Azimio running mate selection panel the name of Martha Karua, whom they believe fits the bill as Odinga’s running mate.
“We will be very pleased as a community and as Azimio if we get Martha Karua as a running mate and later as the deputy president. In every election, we must play a role in determining leaders to be elected from the MCA seat to that of a Governor, Senator and even the Presidential position. Because if they slip, the country falls,” Wachira Kago said, adding that the group arrived at the decision after consulting Kikuyu elders over the weekend.
“We were at the Coastal Region last weekend with over 800 elders from the Kiama Kiama and the Kikuyu Council of Elders where we deliberated on the elections matters,” added.
