Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia acknowledges the presence of a Deep State, which may help determine the direction a presidential election takes.
Speaking to Citizen TV on Tuesday morning, the former secretary to the cabinet disclosed there are a couple of factors involved while deciding who should be president, from the polling station to the international credibility of an individual.

”The deep state exists but I can assure you it could be deeper than deep. If you have two candidates at the rate of 50:50 and the deep state backs one, you can be assured that one will win,” Dr. Kimemia said.
Adding, ”However, the candidate must be credible and electable. The international angle also influences a lot, so combined with the deep state, you can be sure your goose is cooked.”
Last month while speaking to a section of leaders from Kajiado at his Karen residence, Deputy President William Ruto said the deep state planned to rig him out of the presidency, but he was ready for any outcome.
“Tunatishiwa ati kuna system, ati Deep State, ati hata tukipiga kura watatuibia, kuna watu wameketi mahali fulani wanangojea, watakuja na deep state, tutakuja na wananchi na mungu. In 2013, I was being threatened, if I was afraid, or if President Uhuru Kenyatta was afraid, we would not have had the Jubilee government, its is the same thing we are being told now,” the DP said.

Allies of the DP have labeled ODM leader Raila Odinga a preferred candidate of President Uhuru Kenyatta and the deep state, despite the former prime minister not declaring whether he will be running for the top seat.
