Raila Odinga’s elite security stirs Elburgon

ODM leader Raila Odinga is currently in Molo, Nakuru county attending the funeral of the founder of David Kibira Muchai, the founder of Mololine Services.

In footage that has since gone viral online, Mr. Odinga is seen alighting from his car at the late Kibiria’s home in Elburgon, before his elite security team from the Reece Squad and the RDU forms a ring around him, amidst cheers from the enthusiastic crowd.

The officers protecting Mr. Odinga today are from the presidential escort unit formed entirely by the General Service Unit (GSU)-Recce squad that guards President Uhuru Kenyatta, his deputy William Ruto and other state dignitaries. 

Recce Squad is one of the most feared special forces in Kenya that are used for only special assignments. The fearless officers are known for facing targets head-on leaving them with no space for retaliation.

Recce squad members are chosen from GSU recruits who perform best during basic training in Embakasi.

Their head offices are in the Kimbo area, Kiambu county.
