Kenyans who have applied for smart driving licenses can collect them from NTSA offices.

In a statement on Thursday, NTSA confirmed that the smart DLs were ready for collection and invited applicants to pick them up.

“We urge our esteemed clients to collect their smart DLs from the center identified during the application process.” read part of the notice.

The agency advised the applicants to carry their national IDs which will be used for verification before the documents are handed over to them.

The smart DLs are fitted with a chip, that holds the drivers’ information, and a points-based system is used to encourage discipline among motorists.

Each card comes with 100 points that are deducted every time the holder commits any traffic offense. Upon reaching the threshold of 40 points, the license is automatically canceled.
