Govt Takes Charge of Masinde Muliro Stadium Rehabilitation

The national government has assumed responsibility for the completion and refurbishment of Masinde Muliro stadium in Bungoma County, in preparation for the upcoming Madaraka Day celebrations in June. Interior PS Raymond Omollo and Transport counterpart Mohammed Daghar have also unveiled plans for the rehabilitation of Matulo airstrip ahead of the festivities.

Sports CS Ababu Namwamba, speaking in Bungoma on Friday, 16th February 2024 commended the efforts of the Bungoma County government in advancing the stalled stadium project. He revealed, “During my last visit here, we discussed the necessary changes with CEC Agnes Wachiye and her team. I’m pleased to see that all proposed improvements have been successfully implemented.”

CS Namwamba affirmed the government’s commitment to elevating youth talent to international levels, emphasizing the stadium’s role in showcasing talents and boosting the county’s economy. Plans for stadium lighting and terraces are in progress to facilitate night games and enhance the spectator experience.
