Governor Samboja kicks off Raila’s campaigns in Taita Taveta

1 min read

Taita Taveta Governor Granton Samboja has kicked off a massive campaign in his county to rally residents behind ODM leader Raila Odinga’s 2022 presidential bid. The campaign is aimed to check and counter Deputy President William Ruto who has been making numerous trips to the region popularising his United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Speaking in Mwatate on Tuesday, Governor Samboja assured residents that it was only the former prime minister who had the experienced hands to address their plight when he takes over as president next year.

”This man (Mr Odinga) has been persistent in the reforms agenda. We should give him our support to uplift the economic standards of this region. I urge you, in all humility, to vote for him. We should give him a five-year term to transform this country,” the governor said, vowing to comb every part of the county to drum up support for Raila.

In September at the Azimio la Umoja convention in Mombasa, Governor Samboja was among the Coast region’s luminaries who threw their weight behind Raila Odinga’s 2022 presidential bid. Others were Governors Hassan Joho (Mombasa) and Dhadho Godana (Tana River).
