Desist From Divisive Ethnic Politics – Ruto Warns Leaders

President William Ruto addresses residents of Kabuchai, Bungoma County.

In Bungoma President William Ruto talks about the need for Kenyan politicians to desist from promoting tribalism and ethnic politics and he says he wants the whole country united.

In Meru on the same day Ruto’s DP Gachagua tells Mt. Kenya voters that he will always fight for Mt. Kenya ethnic unity against anybody else. Elsewhere Kithure Kindiki Ruto CS had these words to say: “”The mobilisation and incitement of ethnic communities against each other is a barbaric, cruel and dangerous political misadventure that poses grave danger to our Country’s future.”

Anne Waiguru the Kirinyaga governor also had some advise for Kenyans on the ethnic political agenda in the country today. “It is time for elected leaders to work for the people,” Waiguru said.

Waiguru said the region has reaped big from the Kenya Kwanza government, adding that she will not be silenced by people who want to elicit unnecessary wrangles at the expense of the nation’s unity.

In short. Mt. Kenya politicians are in shambles and it is their problem to deal with. 2022 elections are gone and it was a tribal warfare in which Kikuyu leaders like Gachagua went after the Kenyatta family and even mobilized gangsters to invade their farm and steal everything.

Revealed: Why police officers did not stop invasion on Uhuru Kenyatta’s farm

Individuals who invaded part of the Kenyatta family-owned Northlands City and stole livestock on Monday, March 27, 2023. The invaders forced their way into Northlands through a fence in the Kamakis area along the Eastern Bypass.

Guards who are tasked with taking care of former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Northlands farm at Kamakis on the Eastern Bypass in Kiambu County, were turned away by police officers at Gatong’ora Police Post when they went to report Monday’s invasion of the expansive farm, Nairobi News can now reveal.

In an exclusive interview with Nairobi News, the guards said they were on duty on Monday morning and when the goons descended on the farm they had no option but to flee.

“We made the decision to rush to the nearest station here, which is Gatong’ora Police Post, but the officers turned as away saying such an incident was beyond them,” said one of the guards.

I Am Sorry, Forgive Us,’ DP Gachagua Apologizes To Mama Ngina For Mudslinging Her During Elections

'I am sorry, forgive us,' DP Gachagua apologises to Mama Ngina for mudslinging her during elections

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has apologised to former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta for what he termed as bad politics during the 2022 General Elections.

Speaking from his Karen residence on Monday, Gachagua pleaded with Kenya’s first lady to forgive the political fraternity for mudslinging her during the campaigns.

“I am sorry for involving Mama Ngina Kenyatta in the last general elections politics. She is our mother. I therefore ask for forgiveness on behalf of our team for any inconvenience caused to her. I will never allow anyone to demean her or anyone from the region,” Gachagua told Kameme TV.

“The former President Uhuru Kenyatta is our son. We worked together for 17 years and only disagreed for 2 years and now that’s the past. I pray for him in his retirement. Uhuru is one of us. We shall talk with everyone.”

In the same breath, the Deputy President called on leaders to embrace unity within the Mount Kenya Region and the country.

“Our unity is our strength and that’s why I keep insisting that our generation should be protected. Anytime we are in the government we need to have unison in our thinking and loving one another.”

Not long after the 2022 polls, DP Gachagua took on Mama Ngina in a political brawl on several occasions while also targeting former President Uhuru Kenyatta, her son.

During a public address in Nyeri County, he had asked Mama Ngina to surrender half of the Kenyatta land estate to the Mau Mau and their children which he claimed was grabbed.

DP Gachagua added that he is ready to mobilise the Mau Mau families to receive the land from the former first family.

“I was so happy yesterday to see people saying that they are thinking of how to help the Mau Mau. Even if they have never helped them since 1963 it’s still not late because the Mau Mau and their descendants are suffering,” said the DP during a public address.

“All we’re asking is for them to help the Mau Mau in a meaningful way. All the land they took from the Mau Mau, let them return at least half of the parcels of land to the Mau Mau and their children including myself.”

Now Gachagua is profusely apologizing to Uhuru and his mother Mama Ngina Kenyatta for the abuse Ruto directed them to heap on him. Does anybody know what is going on with this Ruto government. Even Ruto doesn’t know and he seems to just want to go out of the country everyday.

President William Ruto on Sunday reiterated his call to Kenyan leaders to veer off from using divisive politics while trying to woo the masses for their support.

A seemingly vexed Ruto noted that encouraging tribal divisions in the nation will only retract the gains made in developing the nation and cripple the realisation of his government’s ambitious promises.

Speaking during a church service in Amutala Stadium, Bungoma County, Ruto asserted that his government will ensure that every region in Kenya will receive an equal share of the development pie to establish solidarity.

“I have been in politics for a long time and I understand the dangers of divisive politics based on ethnicity. I urge you to not walk on the slippery road of dividing Kenyans based on tribal affiliations,” said Ruto.

“Let us focus our attention on the transformation of Kenya and not the division of Kenya. I urge all leaders to go that direction.”

The first in command further warned elected leaders against sleeping on their jobs and failing to execute their constitutional mandates, noting that shirking their roles will run the risk of stagnating development.

“Your job in parliament is representation which is about your constituency and the other two jobs of legislation and oversight are about the nation of Kenya, done in the National Assembly. It is not a village assembly,” Ruto noted.

“I want to encourage you to represent your constituencies effectively but to also move around Kenya so that you understand your responsibilities better and do so equally. That way we will build a strong and prosperous nation.”

Ruto’s plea is a reiteration from his Madaraka Day speech on Saturday where he stated that he will remain committed to foster development and that there is no room for tribal politics in his government.

“I assure Kenyans that we will never go back to the politics of ethnicity and personalities,” he said.

“The 2022 election was defining. It helped clear tribal politics and showed that Kenyan voters make decisions based on issue-based manifestos.”

This lies on the backdrop of a move by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to rally leaders from the Mt. Kenya region for his support, claiming that there is a scheme by some individuals to convince President Ruto to throw him under the political bus.

Embrace unity of purpose, DP Gachagua urges political leaders

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Sunday described himself as a peacemaker, explaining that his call for unity beginning with his home region Mount Kenya, is for the greater good of the Nation and its development.

Speaking in Buuri Constituency in Meru County, the Deputy President also defended his call for national forgiveness following a highly divisive 2022 General Election, saying such healing was the way to go for the country to progress.

Addressing a congregation at Our Lady of Visitation Catholic Church in Timau, the Deputy President, who was accompanied by his Spouse Pastor Dorcas Rigathi and Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza, among other leaders, explained that he came into Office a bitter man given the humiliation and persecution the previous regime subjected to him.

However, the Deputy President explained, that he has gradually healed following consistence prayers for the last year, and subsequently, he is ready to forgive those who persecuted him now that the elections were over.

“I want to appeal to all leaders to embrace forgiveness, it is there in the Bible. I was badly wounded, humiliated and persecuted before the elections. I came to office with bitterness but through prayers – and I thank my wife Pastor Dorcas over prayers – within one year I was a healed person. I have forgiven everybody who wronged me and I have asked everyone who I may have wronged to forgive me. There is nothing wrong with forgiving each other,” he stated.

He appealed to all leaders- irrespective of political affiliation- to embrace forgiveness and give peace a chance for the Nation to develop and progress.

With the unity of purpose, leaders, and all regions, should rally behind President William Ruto and support him to implement his economic blueprint.

Gachagua asked leaders to embrace unity and support President Ruto’s plan to transform the country.

The Deputy President further described himself as a peacemaker and said he has been involved in peace-making initiatives in various counties across the country because where there is harmony, there is development. Some areas include Kericho, Kiambu, Meru and Nakuru.

“With acrimony, no work will be done. Embrace unity of purpose so that you can join other regions and enhance relevance in national politics. There are issues that can’t be pushed nationally but must start at the regional level,” he explained.

The Deputy President further called on leaders to forgive each other and work together for purposes of national development.

He said his decision to unite leaders and the people of Mount Kenya region following divisive campaigns in the 2022 General Election is to bring those who voted for Opposition to rally behind President William Ruto.

“On my unity agenda, it is not only for Mount Kenya region but the entire country. For a region to be peaceful and united counties must be united. We will continue asking for unity on regions, counties and the country,” he said as he dismissed claims that the region would be isolated after over its unity.

Questioning why some leaders were having a problem with the unity agenda and criticizing him, the Deputy President said that since each region has its peculiar economic issues and challenges the leaders needed to unite and push for their own respective interests.

“Those saying that calling for unity in Mount Kenya region will lead for isolation, are wrong because unity is good for the country. We had a bad divisive election where 87 per cent of voters in Mount Kenya region voted for President William Ruto and 13 per cent voted for Azimio. I am bringing both camps together and put the region behind President Ruto so that we approach next election as united. The unity is also to ensure the President succeeds,” said Gachagua.

Shun Tribal Politics And Support Kenya Kwanza Government, Waiguru Tells Mt. Kenya Region

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru speaking during the 61st Madaraka Day celebrations in Kirinyaga on June 1, 2024

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has urged Kenyans in the Mt. Kenya region to shun tribal politics and instead rally behind President William Ruto’s government.

Speaking during the Madaraka Day celebrations on Saturday, Waiguru said the divisive politics being advanced by a section of leaders should be rejected for the sake of national development and unity.

The Kirinyaga Governor added that the region is firmly behind President Ruto’s government to ensure it delivers on its ambitious promises to Kenyans.

“It is time for elected leaders to work for the people,” Waiguru said.

Waiguru said the region has reaped big from the Kenya Kwanza government, adding that she will not be silenced by people who want to elicit unnecessary wrangles at the expense of the nation’s unity.

“Kirinyaga has reaped big from its support and cooperation with the national government,” Waiguru said.

Waiguru was accompanied by Kirinyaga central MP Gachoki Gitari who called on other leaders to end divisive politics and early campaigns, her Deputy Governor, and over 20 Members of the County Assembly (MCAs).

Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has taken on Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki over his tweet on Saturday evening.

Kindiki seemed to be indirectly castigating Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who has been constantly calling for the unity of Mount Kenya at the expense of the whole nation.

The CS observed that the politics of ethnic and regional seclusion was not fit for the country, referencing the events in 2007 when violence erupted from tribal grounds.

“The mobilisation and incitement of ethnic communities against each other is a barbaric, cruel and dangerous political misadventure that poses grave danger to our Country’s future.

Kenya’s ugly past experience with ethnically brewed violence should jolt all of us, whatever tongue we speak and whichever part of the Country we come from, to resist and to name and shame the propagators of ethnic hate and the “us” versus “them” narrative that nearly destroyed Kenya in December and January of 2007/08,” said Kindiki.

CS Kithure Kindiki’s tweet seemed directed at DP Rigathi Gachagua.

Reacting to Kindiki’s tweet, Ahmednasir termed it as a cheap shot.

The lawyer noted that Kenya was peaceful and that the tweet was only aimed at fear-mongering.

“Cheap shot Bwana CS! Historically very relevant. Currently irrelevant. CS knows Kenya is peaceful but is obviously taking a very cheap shot at DP Rigathi Gachagua (I had to check the timeline for this tweet. I thought it was a decade old just to realise it was yesterday’s),” said Ahmednasir.

Can anybody make out what this Ruto government is saying and working on?

My father Shem Adongo Ogony used to tell me that son when you don’t know what you are doing it is better not to know it all. Just half. His idea was that at least you should know half of what you are doing. That would be a good advise to the Ruto government right now.

But it was always hard to argue with the old man so I just kept quiet when he told me you can only be half stupid if you want to survive. With him and my mother we had to work everyday. Me I was given tomatoes and red kitungu which I had to water and do everything. My sisters had the maize and all the other crops. You do that and then go to school. That was the dictatorship at home.

And then when I come back from Kamiti Prison my sisters tell my mother this is not the guy who went there but they said they will fix it. The guy who came back they said was crazy. Later on we all calmed down and we were home as usual with new family members. He is okay we can deal with him my sisters were telling my mother but they didn’t know I was just about to get out of the country because I had no choice and went to Tanzania by foot to Musoma with the help of my uncle, Mawere Nyambara.

His plan after he put me and my buddy Omondi Obanda under house arrest was that we go by bus to Migori and walk across the border and make it to Musoma where he had somebody to meet us. We made it there and the person met us and she was the one who sent us to Mwanza and from there to Dar-es-Salaam Refugee Center.
