Didmus Barasa dumps Ruto as Waluke endorses ODM MP for Bungoma governor

It is a bad weekend for Deputy President William Ruto and his Hustler Nation. Kimilili MP Dismus Barasa has distanced himself from Tanga Tanga politics, barely hours after John Waluke threw his weight behind Westlands MP, Timothy Wanyonyi, for Bungoma Governor in 2022.

Speaking to the press on Sunday 21st, MP Barasa announced he is taking a four-month sabbatical from national politics and will use the recess to consult on his next political step with his supporters. Barasa has been one of the most vocal Tanga Tanga voices in Bungoma county, his move could put DP Ruto’s activities in the county in limbo.

”As we heed the call by President Uhuru Kenyatta to reduce our political activities to control the spread of COVID-19, I will also take this time to take a sabbatical leave for about four months to support Mulembe nation,” the MP said, adding that he will be part of the team to reconcile all political factions in Bungoma.

“As they say, charity begins at home, together with other like-minded leaders who will join me, we will try and reconcile all the factions in Bungoma with the view of having Bungoma speak in one voice.”
