There is a crisis in the Musalia Mudavadi led Amani National Congress (ANC) following reports COTU boss Francis Atwoli has successfully managed to convince a number of the party’s MPs led by ANC Deputy Party leader Ayub Savula, to decamp to Raila Odinga’s camp on Sunday.

Over the weekend, a section of MPs allied to the ANC leader showed up at Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) boss Francis Atwoli’s Khwisero home on Saturday, December 26, leaving party members confused.

”Tunakuomba mzee utusaidie sisi pole pole. Sisi ni vijana wadogo tukikosa, sameya sisi. (We are appealing to you to kindly support us wherever you can. We are young men. If we wrong you, kindly do forgive us,” said one of the leaders accompanying Savula at the meeting.

According to reports, the crisis in ANC is also said to be fueled by claims highly embarrassing voice recordings will be played at the Bukhungu 2 rally, implicating top ANC leaders in bribery and extortion schemes.

On Friday ANC threatened to scuttle Azimio la Umoja meeting to be attended by ODM leader Raila Odinga in Kakamega.

The meeting has been convened by Cotu secretary general Francis Atwoli and is expected to rally the Luhya nation into the Azimio Movement.
